Leadership & Management Advisory

Why are some organizations able to achieve significantly greater commercial success over longer periods of time compared to others even in the same market conditions?

When asked to rate their own organization’s performance on a 1-10 scale where 10 is “at peak potential” and 1 is “well below potential,” most business leaders respond with a 6 or 7 rating. This means, by the leaders own admission, most organizations only achieve 60 or 70% of their potential. Is your organization achieving as much as it possibly can in the marketplace?

Our own research at LEC reveals that in order to maximize organizational potential, leaders must shape and pro-actively manage the three pillars of sustainable growth we call the Brains, Bones and Nerves of an enterprise:

Our own research at LEC reveals that in order to maximize organizational potential, leaders must shape and pro-actively manage the three pillars of sustainable growth we call the Brains, Bones and Nerves of an enterprise:

Brains

BRAINS (Purpose, Vision & Strategy): Not only must the vision and strategy be compelling and differentiated in today’s fast pace environment of constant digital disruption, it must be cascaded such that every single employee can fully understand and articulate the value proposition offered. Through their actions and communication, leaders must create widespread understanding and acceptance of the vision and strategy.

Bones

BONES (Organization Architecture): To enable smooth execution, resources must be deployed in the most efficient and effective manner. This involves sourcing the right people for critical jobs; clarifying roles, responsibilities and decision rights; and keeping a fluid and simple organization structure.

Nerves

NERVES (Culture): At the end of the day, an organization’s culture tells people what to do when on one is looking or no directions are available. It is a leader’s job to create and maintain a culture of high performance and excellence at a time when control must give way to freedom and empowerment.

Using our proprietary B-B-N framework, our facilitators work with senior leadership teams in helping them identify opportunities for accelerating growth and driving transformational change. Our engagements typically involve a pre-diagnostic to identify opportunities, a working session with the entire senior leadership team to agree on the most important priorities, and follow-up work with subgroups or individual leaders to execute against identified priorities.

Through a mix of group facilitation, team chartering and executive coaching, we help senior teams answer questions such as:

  • 01

How do we ensure our strategy and business plans are still relevant in the age of constant innovation and disruption?

  • 02

How do we ensure all employees fully understand and accept our business strategy and how to execute it?

  • 03

How should we design our organization in order to maximize efficiency and effectiveness?

  • 04

How do we give freedom and flexibility to employees without compromising performance?

  • 05

What supporting systems and structures should we change in order to succeed in today’s open source era?

  • 06

How should we measure and reward performance?

  • 07

How can we reduce bureaucracy and increase our nimbleness?

  • 08

How can we foster a culture of innovation?
